Standing out  involves going the extra mile, neglecting existing procedures, and coming up with new ideas.

Here are few tips and guidelines, an individual can apply to  stand out in their various endeavors.


✔️  Be smartly hardworking

As a dream chaser, you should  learn to link smartness and hard work, bringing them together as one.
Genuine hard work, for an individual who considers success not as an option, is the basic step to getting distinguished from the rest in a workplace. A diligently working individual always in the process of setting and achieving personal goals  will eventually be regarded as a person and occasionally get rewarded.

✔️ Be goal-oriented

Working with a key reason of achieving various set goals makes you less prone to distraction, thereby increasing your commitment and consistency.
Being goal-oriented will undoubtedly stand you out from such colleagues.‍⚖️


✔️ Do more talk less

Excessive talkativeness apart being unhealthy, it consumes time and energy, makes massive issues seem little, this affects the energy you need to put into your work.

Rather than “motor-mouthing” 藍 like the crowd, learn to quietly listen and smartly observe the happenings around you.

By so doing, you can instantly observe a troubling situation people are undergoing, and work towards creating solutions to tackle such problems. Finding ways to solve people’s predicaments without their awareness will instantly build a form of confidence in them around you, and make such persons see you as a competent individual.


✔️ Keep the right company

Companies with the same mindset and goals often tend to inspire and motivate one another, assist one another, and teach one another.   As it is often said, your company tells a lot about you. Michael Bassey Johnson said, “To be of good quality, you have to excuse yourself from the presence of shallow and callow minded individuals.”

Self discipline

It is commonly believed that, self-discipline  means being harsh toward yourself, or living a limited, restrictive lifestyle but no
Self discipline means self control , which is a sign of inner strength and control of yourself, your actions, and your reactions.

Self-discipline is one of the most important and useful skills everyone should possess. It is essential in every area of life, and though most people acknowledge its importance, very few do something to strengthen it.

Self discipline gives you the power to stick to your decisions and follow them through, without changing your mind, and this one of the important requirements for achieving your set goals.The possession of this skill enables you to persevere with your decisions and plans until you accomplish them. It also manifests as inner strength, helping you to overcome addictions, procrastination and laziness, and to follow through with whatever you do.

Self discipline can expresses itself in so many ways:

✔️Perseverance.
✔️The ability not to give up, despite failure and setbacks.

✔️The ability to resist distractions or temptations.
✔️Trying over and again, until you accomplish what you set out to do.

Life puts challenges and problems on the path to success and achievement, and in order to rise above them, you have to act with perseverance and persistence, and this of course, requires self-discipline.
Self discipline gives you more wins than loses. which would you rather go with, being carefree or being disciplined?

The possession of this skill leads to self-confidence and self esteem, and consequently, to happiness and satisfaction.
On the other hand, lack of self discipline leads to failure, loss, health, relationships’ problems,etc

You also need it to make yourself sit and study, exercise your body, develop new skills, and for self improvement, spiritual growth and meditation.

BENEFITS OF SELF DISCIPLINE
It helps you to:

✔️Fulfill promises you make to yourself and to others.
✔️Overcome laziness and procrastination.
✔️Continue working on a project, even after the initial rush of enthusiasm has faded away.
✔️Wake up early in the morning.
✔️Overcome the habit of watching too much TV.
✔️Start reading a book, and read it to the last page.

Sometimes it is easier to  strengthen your self discipline, if you:

1. Understand its importance in your life.
2. Become aware of your undisciplined behavior and its consequences. When this awareness increases, you will be more convinced of the need to make a change in your life.
3. Make the effort to act and behave according to the decisions you make, regardless of laziness, the tendency to procrastinate, or the desire to give up and stop what you are doing.

Those things that are yet to be done may just be that you have not disciplined yourself well enough to achieve them, it’s not too late to begin NOW!!

Don’t dare to judge a person based on his/her outward appearance only, I bet you will end up being disappointed. No one is ever 100% perfect except Jesus Christ.

Perfection is not measured by how comfortable in every sphere of life you are. Everyone is striving towards perfection in life. In the process of doing things right, we make mistakes but the difference between you and the next person who makes that same mistake is

::::: How quickly you recognize you have made a mistake

:::::: Trying your best  to make amends

::::::: Forgive yourself and move on to achieving and becoming what you have always wanted to become.

If these three steps would require isolation for you to achieve it, do it without shutting people out.
This (isolation) comes with advantages and disadvantages

*It gives you time to fully concentrate on achieving your set goals

* You get things done faster than when you are in a crowded place because of distraction

✔️ Loneliness crawls in without you knowing

✔️ You bridge friendship to a certain level

✔️ In times of urgency, no one can reach you

✔️ Persons that look up to you will someone be thrown off balance because you are not there to guide them

✔️ You will be back step backward when it comes to recent happenings.

Staying away sometimes can cause more harm than good.

I end with this

Dwelling too long your past mistake ends up killing you gradually and it brings down your self esteem too.

We all make mistakes, a better version of you is what mistakes are meant to bring out of you.
Stop reminiscing about it, brace up and chase your dreams

Bravery @ it’s peak

There is no limit to what we can achieve if we have the focus, believe, dedication and passion for it .

Bravery is more than just physical courage. It is one of this most wanted feeling that we all crave for but it’s only few that possesses it.

We are constantly faced with tough negotiations, leaping into the unknown, taking big risk, etc. with all these things you see many retrieving back to their shells, only the brave ones can stand up to those situations and conquer them.

Ever noticed whenever you want to be brave,you end up having the opposite effect? This is because at the first sight of trouble, our subconscious mind has a very funny way of stirring up either fear or courage in us, it’s our duty to always subdue the feeling of fear and nurture courage to full bloom.

✍️. EMBRACE THE FEAR:::::: The fear of not getting it right isn’t there by accident, it means you are into something big. Embrace them, make conscious decisions to face your fears and be intentional about it.

This time of  lockdown is a ‘free period’ we may never get to have again. why not take this time to be productive and improve on your reading habits.

Reading is one of the ways to improve, there are many books  can help you in your areas of specialty.
Worried that you can may stop half way without reading till the end of the book?

✓draw up a reading time table,allocating specific hours to the  number of chapters you want to read per day
Say 2hours to finish 3 chapters

✓set up an alarm to remind you whenever it’s time.
Better still you can get an accountability partner that will be there to look out for you, always remind you when it’s time to read.

The wrong route

Schooling these days has been made easier to the point that you can even learn from the comfort of your home, still get your certificate and off you go.

Our educational system here in Nigeria also made life easier by giving us a chance to fill more than one course of study when applying for JAMB ( joint admissions and matriculation board).

Choosing a discipline is solely the right of the child, the parents only guides the child to make the right choice. Days are gone when parents imposed a particular career on their child, but to my amusement you still hear/ see some parents forcing a child against his/her will.
Some even go to the extent of forcing a child good at art subjects to go into science to fulfil their desires of being called “mama doc” “papa doc” without taking time to note what the child prefers.

When a child is being forced to take on a particular career, he /she ends up:

*Loosing his/her self-esteem

*Having no passion for the imposed career

*Becoming an ‘oh yes’ member to any suggestions that can make him/her just graduate and leave

  • Not interested in practicing the profession after school

I bet you won’t want your child to graduate from school and hand the certificate over to you because he/she was pursuing your own dreams not theirs.
There are some choices you shouldn’t make for your child as a parent and the choice of a career is one of them. Give your child a chance to choose what he/she wants to become.

Confidence and self esteem


#Do_you_know

Confidence and self-esteem are not the same thing, although they are often linked.

Confidence is the term we use to describe how we feel about our ability to perform roles, functions and tasks.

Self-esteem is how we feel about ourselves, the way we look, the way we think..  whether or not we feel worthy or valued.

people with good self-esteem can  have low confidence,  It is also perfectly possible for people with low self-esteem to be very confident in some areas.
It is ok to be confident, it is suppose to be one of your drives to achieving things but just like they say “too much of everything is bad”

Over-confidence can be a problem if it makes you believe that you can do anything even if you don’t have the necessary skills, abilities and knowledge to do it well. In this kind of  situations over-confidence can lead to failure.
Also this over confidence can make a handsome dude and a fine babe became very arrogant, their egoistic  nature begins to play out

You won’t want people to even perceive that arrogant in you because surprisingly,they will take pleasure in your failure
When ever our inner voice says “I can’t,” saying or resetting our mind to say “I can” may just be all we need at that time.

Low-confidence can be a result of many factors including: fear of the unknown, criticism, being unhappy with personal appearance (self-esteem), feeling unprepared, poor time-management, lack of knowledge and memories of our past failures. Sometimes, when we lack confidence in ourselves it is because of what we believe others will think of us.
We fear that others will laugh at us or complain or make fun if we make a mistake.

Thinking like this can prevent us from doing things we want or need to do because we believe that the consequences are too painful or embarrassing. Mistakes are inevitable, especially when doing something new. Confidence is also about knowing what to do when mistakes come to light and  also about problem solving and decision making, this is because when a mistake is noticed, we will definitely want to correct it thereby going all out to find positive ways to prevent it from happening again.

WAYS TO BOOST YOUR CONFIDENCE LEVEL

1) There is something called a confidence role model. someone that you see regularly, a work colleague, a family member or a friend , somebody with a lot of self-confidence who you’d like to mirror. Observe them and notice how they behave when they are being confident. How do they move, how do they speak, what do they say and when? How do they behave when faced with a problem or mistake?
Confidence is contagious. So is lack of confidence.

2)Get to Know Yourself/Become Your Own Best Friend.
Loving yourself is one thing that nobody can do  better than you, it gives you this feeling of  self worth. This can only happen when you know  and become comfortable with yourself

3)Don’t Compare Yourself to Others.
Your strengths and weaknesses are different from that of your neighbor, you will be doing yourself more harm than good when you begin to compare yourself to another person.

4)Acknowledge Where You Need Change.

5)Challenge yourself to do something that’s just beyond your normal comfort zone. 
Pick something you’d like to do if only you had more confidence. Give yourself a little push and do it. 

Remember
Confidence levels go up and down for everyone,
If something shakes your confidence,  Don’t criticize yourself. Learn from what happened, think what you could have done differently,  Then remind yourself of your strengths and the things you’ve achieved and Get back in the game!

In this period of lock down where things are becoming more difficult  by the day, no money, maybe no food to even eat once a day,  you have literally become an “economic master”. Because of the way things are going, several thoughts may have crossed your mind

But hey this is me telling you that


Surviving is sometimes hard but giving up and waiting to die is not an option. Its either you live or you live.
When I hear persons playfully saying ” I just want to die”,  I don’t take that for granted because something must have prompted that statement.

Sometime last year, going through some challenging times, I made that statement and to me that was the only thing on my mind, friends took it like I was cracking a joke but that joke was quite expensive. They talked sense into my head and I was able to come back to my normal self.

The thoughts of dying should not be an option any day, any time,  anywhere.

Let me ask you, If you kill yourself now
* what will happen to your dreams?
* what state do you want to leave your parents?
* will the world end because you died?
*what will happen to your years of hard work?
* will the problem be solved?
